Displaced children in Syria are spending hours at a time on TikTok live streams begging for digital gifts that can be converted into cash. But very little of the money raised is actually making it to their families with TikTok taking a cut of as much as 70%. The BBC's Global Disinformation reporter Hannah Gellbert's been investigating this and it must have been quite distressing. It has been difficult to monitor my phone every day for the past five months and see these families, she says.
