The invasion was launched in February 23rd. It was a massive invasion from several different points from the south all the way up to the north. The initial war plan was to so overwhelm a fractured Ukraine and what they thought was going to be easy to overwhelm, that the central authorities would either flee or force them into some sort of humiliating agreement.
