The Trials of Atawalpa

Atawalpa pushed south until he was within a few kilometers of the capital of cuzco. His older brother wascar, hastily gathered all the troops he could from the countryside. The two armies met on the plains of qipe pan, each with around 60 thousand soldiers. Ataalpa also seems to have purged members of the royal court who may have had stronger claims to the throne than he did.
