What Is Hellenization?

During the Greek intertestamental period the word is Hellenization and what it means is the spread of Greek culture. In fact Greek had so overtaken Hebrew that a lot of Jews throughout the diaspora couldn't even read their own Hebrew Bible because they didn't know Hebrew. And so a group of 72 Jewish scholars, translators took the Hebrew Bible and translated it into Greek so that Greek speaking Jews could read their own scripture. Those were incredibly difficult times to maintain faith as we'll see in Maccabees.
