I'm a Tougher Golfer, but I Swing the Club, the Ball Goes Into the Poison Ivy and My Eyes Are Different

It's not true everywhere. I mean I'm a terrible golfer and I'm fully aware of that. But golf is different because where you see this effect is in areas where the skill or the expertise you need to judge how well you're doing is exactly the same as producing an accurate decision. So it's in multiple domains a whole variety of cognitive tasks. It's in science, maths, languages and so on. And we've also paid people up to $100 US for accurate impressions and we find that that doesn't improve people's judgments at all. You get their attention but you don't get any accuracy.
