What Happened to the Viceroys of Mexico City?

The town council of mexico city wanted the viceroy to convene some kind of representative hunta. After all, new spain was a rich and civilized kingdom of six million people,. So its people deserved the same rights as their spanish cousins. We should have a hunta, too. The audiencia not only rejected this idea, but fearing that the viceroys was on his way to inviting a full blown revolution.
