The Twelve Steps to Recovery From Alcoholism
In 1938, since they knew there was going to be a lot of money coming in, they decided there had to be some vehicle to handle and control and take care of that money. So they formed a thing in 1938 called the Alcoholic Foundation. And if my memory serves me correct, there was five people on that foundation. The purpose of the foundation was to take over the legal function, to handle the monies, and do the things necessary business-wise. In April of 1939, the book Alcoholics Anonymous was published. We know that 100 people had recovered by that time through this information contained in the Big Book Alcoholics Anonymous. Shortly thereafter AA began to grow by leaps and bounds
