I used to think that we didn't have to worry about this at all until models were kind of like operating in rich environments. But a lot of the cognitive machinery that you would need for active agents seems kind of already present in the base language models. So I'm not quite as sure as I was before that we're missing the things that, you know, that we'reMissing enough of the things that you would needs. If there's an area that is helpful with this, it's maybe mechanistic interpretability because I think of it as neuroscience for models.
