I think any effort that goes to Mars, the goal is in this decade. I have a big bet $10,000 with a friend when I was drunk in an argument. The Neil Armstrong of Mars, whoever he or she may be, will set foot by the end of 2030. If it's coming on that exact day, that's going to be really stressful. There's just no reason they couldn't send a starship to Mars and land it pretty soon. Now, taking a person off for Mars and coming back again... I don't think anyone would want to be on that voyage because there's just so much amateur hour here. Even these 26 months are getting better every year.
