The Benefits of Commercial Malt Extract

Malt extract is what we do as brewers. It's taking the malt, taking the malted barley, running it through a mash and then extracting out sugars. All grain brewers create malt extract whenever they go through a mash or all that stuff. To me, there's no other real reason to make extracts like this, except for to simplify or ease up the brewing process.
