Bamboo can be used for so much. But developing that scale means developing whole new industries. A more immediate use would be to burn it as a replacement for fossil fuel. What's interesting is something called bio char, that's essentially charcoal. You bake bamboo with very little oxygen, half the c o two is lost but the other half is locked in the charred wood for thousands of years. The combination of bamboo and bio char is getting a real buzz right now.
