The Abbey Road Engineers - What Was It All About?

When the Biel CDs first came out in the 80s, everyone was shocked how good they sound. But if you look at the equipment, it seems so primitive. Why was the sound so good? Good, good engineering, just solid good engineering. That's, that's what it was all about. I mean, it's extraordinary that those early albums were done on four track at best. The Abbey Road engineers used to be known as balance engineers. They deal with the, the mix between instruments. So it was right to use the word balance. My first ventures into engineering all, all came from the experience of watching others.
