The Impact of Exploratory Engineering on Technology
There is so much more science to master before you get to the frontline in many domains. There might be a lot of low-hanging fruit we just haven't bothered to plucky at them. A lot of exploratory engineering work looks like it's mostly about showing feasibility proofs or something. We need a motor that is very light and produces this much force. If we can get that one, we should be able to fly. I think there is a question here that if a lot of governance and regulatory solutions end up being heavily reliant on specifics, how much progress will happen?
