There is a long history of political intervention in science broadly defined meaning politicians trying to dictate what is true. It didn't work when you tried to put creationism in the schools or ban evolution it actually just draws attention to the bad ideas. Politicians are the world's worst deciders of truth and need to leave that to this open-ended process that I call the Constitution of KnowledgeIt just does it better than anyone else.
