The Value of the CO2 Burst in Soil Health

Nematodes are closely related to permanganate oxidizable carbon, which is a soil health indicator. When we see more fungivores, perhaps, perhaps we are seeing a system that is accumulating carbon in a way that could lead to long-term soil carbon storage. In the reverse, if we see beneficial nematodes with that burst of CO2 and that mineralization process, that could mean a couple of different things. And so, again, these are indicators and then we need to understand how they're integrated to really understand the entire system," she says.
