In the late 19 fifties, even early sixties, this was before vatican. So there is a way in which catholic political thought was still myred in overly reactionary, very nineteenth century ideas. Myer really wasn't protestant. He was just kind of generically interested in christianity that point. And i think at one level, my er was pretty in line with the main currents of national reviews thinking on this matter,. But as always, there were internal debates.
