A New Form of Devotional Worship
Yoga, it seems, has sroots in the vedas. It was then probably elaborated into a sort of multi-dimensional bodily practice. These different spiritual and meditative disciplines are often taught at monasteries. The ashrams became the base for a new form of devotional worship that emphasized internal, emotional or mystical union with the divine. This movement came to be called bati - which originally means something like attachment. Bate promotes ecstatic devotional practices centring particularly on music.
