Tokvill's Criticism of the Enlightenment

Tofil says that the philosophers of the eighteenth century expected the gradual weakening of religious beliefs. Thatis, as freedom and enlightenment increased, they thought the churches would empty. And i think toko thinks, on the surface, it looks liket en, certainlytoi says, tth they were wrong about that. But i think ultimately that tha that he thinks they miss something in terms of why human beings believe and what the roots of religion are.
