What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?
A lot of people will ask my kids, what do you want to be when you grow up? And I don't think that's a fair question because how can a kid know what there is to do or what who they are fully yet? How can we expect them to choose on a limited number of options that they only know about because other people have told them or society or whatever? A better question is what lights you up and that's how you better understand a person. That could inform a career, maybe not. But I would much rather know what lights a person up versus like, what doyou want to be?
