When the housing market crashed, my house was valued about 80 thousand dollars less than what i owed on the house. I could only afford it because of no down payment, which is another thing. If i can't put at least 20 % down, then i'm not willing to take on that burt. But also keep it in mind, i want to be able to pay this house off as soon as possible, so i'm 59 years old. By the time i'm 69 or 65, i'd love to have that house paid off.
