English has a very fixed word order, whereas most languages in the world can move things around more. This also affects the stress, the words, the sentence stress and grammar. So I started really focusing on reduced and connected speech, calling it shrinking and linking. And when students could see, not just me showing, telling them, you know, see visually, where it was, they started following it as a rhythm.
