The Importance of Bureaucratization in the Liberal Tradition
If you're thinking about ends justifying means, then you're not an anarchist, right? Clearly if you are trying to generate a politics, society, a political economy, beyond capitalism, you need some kind of bureaucratization. This is where I disagree with anarchism despite the many valuable things it says about autonomy and liberty. That's why he was a muck-raking journalist who thought that the US is pretty corrupt and you hope to see an alternative vision elsewhere in the world. He went looking for that new vision, and he found it, or at least he thought he found it.
