The Divergence Between Bacteria and Archaea Life
Bacteria and archaea share the genetic code, so plainly they have a common ancestor. But there's something that are really deep and quite mystifying divergence between the two of them. The only way you'd not collapse the driving force would be if you got leaky membranes. If it's acidic outside and then a thousand protons come rushing in and they can't leave again, then now it's acidic inside too. You're at equilibrium. Things come and go, but you don't have a driving force anymore. So what happens next?
