The Importance of Muscle Quality

If your muscles have gotten larger, then for that increase in size to be meaningful, you also had to get stronger. But we know that doesn't always happen because if you lift light weights, we already said that those light weights will make your muscles grow. So again, by some definitions, you've decreased muscle quality. Is that a bad thing? If it were, then you'd have to say that growing your muscle in that circumstance was a bad thing. It's been suggested by some research groups that I can't ever know for certain if my muscles grew or if I just had swelling or edema. Maybe I also need to take muscle biopsies and look at the fiber and
