New York City and the Post-War Years
New york represented the fullest realization of the confident liberalism that dominated american politics. The city, going into the post war years, develops a very unique set of public institutions and unique investments in developing kind of an intra structure of a democratic city. There are about 20, lesigi, couple more than 20, at the peak, public hospitals operating in the city. This is in addition to a network of public health clinics that run throughout the five borroughs. And onthes also institutions like kinney, the city university of new york, which was tuition free since its inception in the nineteenth century.
