The Moses Illusion
The idea of animals going into the ark sets up a biblical context, and Moses is not abnormal in that context. We are able to communicate with each other because our knowledge of the world and our use of words are largely shared. A vast amount of world knowledge must instantly be brought to bear for the incongruity to be recognized. When something does not fit into the current context of activated ideas, the system detects an abnormality.
