The History of Red and Its Origins
Hemotyte is one of the oldest pigments, a all this red pigments that we know about. It was used as a kind of te symbol and it's cropped up in many different archaeological contexts around the world. But hemotates what falls out of fashion because we find brighter versions of red. The name scarlet borrowed from a very fine woollen cloth which was usually dyed with scale insects.
