The Hawaiian King Offers John a Command of the Hawaiian Army

John got a contract from the governor of honolulu for governor of hoon Honolulu with the king of hawaii. He ends up getting space on a cargo ship that's headed back to the west coast. The mexican government was worried about americans coming into the central valley. John would later tell people that the hawaian king was so impressed with him that he offered him command of the hawaiian army.
