The History of the Chinese in the Americas
In the second half of the 19 century, saw a super nova of emigration to points all over the world. By the end of the nineteenth century, around 18 thousand chinese had made their way to the caribbean. But in jamaica, at least, some segments of society were feeling uneasy. The local indigenous population resented and hard feelings whenever they see the ethnic chinese as a group working their way up to the middle classes or even higher.
