Is There a Creative Constraint?
The main question that I hear from so many people is the curiosity that they have about what's in your mind when you're composing something like this. The thing I'm really listening for or starting from at least is just a feeling. What does a poem or even sometimes a single line of a poem evoke for me and then how can the music capture that feeling in some way? Sometimes that might come from pure intuition. Maybe I'm just writing the music I hear in my head when I read a particular poem, maybe it comes from an image. And so that can happen sometimes it might come from the idea of a creative constraint. But to do that in a way that would feel really grounded
