The Long Run Effects in Development

When the military took power they were concerned about improving the pace of development. One of their key policies was also trying to modernize agriculture. In part it's hard to something disentangle completely from the political angle, right? Because agricultural firms tended to be very inefficient and in part this was driven by the control that these traditional landowning elites were exerting. So we do find that in the regions that were initially more concentrated there was a greater influx of agricultural credit.
