The Woman Said, You Have Nothing to Draw With, and the Well Is Deep

The woman said to him, sir, give me this water so that i won't get thirsty. And he told her, go call your husband and come back. She replied: I have no husband. Jesus answered her, you've had five husbands. The man you now have is not your husband. What you've said is quite true. It's deeper than you think. In defence of the disciples, they did not know where this was all heading. They had more faith than most of us ever demonstrate by leaving their trained, chosen vocations in order to follow some one whose life would meet a violent end. But there is nothing obvious in the scriptures that makes them particularly perceptive.
