Rock Writers - The First Wave
No one knew what punk was going to be, so it could have been anything. Different rock writers who I really think had an enormous influence on this thing. There was nothing much sleepy left in British rock journalism at that point. So if you had influences, you know, people picked up on the fact that he was a huge fan of Sid Barrett and Captain Beefheart. It wasn't as dissonant or as intricate as the magic band, but it still had that. And we also worked out quite carefully what the rhythm section, what everything was doing.
