"I was good, but I was lazy because I was more interested in music," he says. "So I got on a train with my banjo, my guitar, my mandolin, and I went to London." He met Noel Murphy of the Irish folk band Magna Carta at an apartment block where they were playing together. The pair formed a successful duo that toured around Europe for several years before breaking up.
