Music changes, but it doesn't necessarily get better. Music seems to function so much differently than the way a mathematical scientific information tends to change. For classic music, has music gotten better since the death of Beethoven and Mozart? I would certainly say no in all three cases. And here, if you look back 100 years ago, you had these great novelists, Joyce, Proust, Robert Musil. The role that music plays in their works, especially Wagner.
