Is MIDI Getting Too Fast?
MIDI is a standard that allows different musical devices to communicate with each other and send musical information backwards and forwards. It came out in the 80s when even, quote, powerful computers probably had less processing power than a smart socket. And so what they would do is send all the notes in advance with timestamps so that they would make sure there was plenty of time for the messages to arrive. As you can imagine, scheduling events for the future doesn't play mostly with speed.
