Women's labor market participation why men have been able to dominate high-paid jobs. The majority of care related work was performed outside of the market and type of work that was performed in the market therefore did not have the same properties as care. Care isn't scarce they're generally abundant so they tend not to be seen as valuable. It makes it difficult for occupational groups to mobilize and make them scarce. All these apparently neutral words that we use in the equality act and the equal pay provisions of the equality act are themselves gendered work, says Professor Peter Wilkinson.
