CHAPTER

The Emotional Component of Citizenship in Chile

Citizenship in its many facets was absolutely fundamental to how people are experiencing their everyday lives. In the cases of migrants who'd been in Chile for a really long time and may have been able to get legal full citizenship it was interesting their thoughts around it. Some felt that it was something they wanted because it was pragmatic but others actually didn't want it because they felt that they had been treated in sort of racist and xenophobic ways in Chile. It's a very emotional issue yeah definitely so citizenship is very much a personal as well as a pragmatic issue  as we've heard from librarians interviewed by Rob Telney J. on this project.
