How Do We Know if Something Is Directly Impacting the Main Character?
If it's not directly impacting the main character, why do we need to know about it right now? That's a good question to ask yourself. Even trying to find areas where you can show through action is way better than stopping to tell me what this thing is. And gauging when does that information become important? Because is it vital that we know all of that right at the beginning of the story?
