The Differences Between ML and Data Modeling

The big difference is that ML is, software is mostly building logic, mostly. It's not entirely building logic. Whereas ML includes logic, but it has a huge component that is data and a model. And those things don't fit well into the brains of software developers all the time. So for a work with bioinformatics and genomics data there are so many different places where something could go wrong with that data. Jonathan: "I wouldn't say software is a solved problem, but I would say it's a lot closer to being solved"
