Government Spending and Inflation
Some people's understanding of how government spend has changed since 2008. Now they're saying, look, we can't afford to spend more because of inflation. How would you respond to that film? Well, I mean, I guess the what they would say is we've got inflation already. Therefore, if the government targets its spending correctly, then it's not going to add to that inflation problem. The inflationary rise on the cost side is nothing to do with excess spending. So tax the rich hard enough to reduce their spending capacity and you have the happy side effect of reducing inequality.
