The History of Best Picture Nominees
The Shape of Water has 22 years of history going against it. It's been that long since a movie won without even being nominated for the best ensemble SAG award, their top prize. Get Out and Call Me By Your Name are grouped together in that because I feel like those are the two that have the biggest advantage with sort of the new Academy members. To win Best Picture, you have to be really admired or respected by crafts department. So I think that does really affect its chances.
