The Future of Cartography

I hope cartography doesn't just become lowest common denominator, something run by computer science majors who are focused on efficiency and rendering times. Is there any sort of industry leaders you look to and go wow those guys they're doing something amazing? There's a few of them here definitely pushing the boundaries. I'm stamen. A big name from San Francisco they're always doing really interesting things with with photography and maps in which unfortunately kind of had a rocky period over the last couple of years. They were really pushing some of the technology. Unfortunately for me some of their maps ended up being more technology demos than then maps themselves.
