The first four cassettes were written and published between 1990 and 1995. We as her publishers at Macmillan didn't know that she was actually working on the final volume, so there was complete joy in the company because she was one of our favourite novelists. There was complete continuity between the first four books that she had been published in the 90s, and the final one which was published in 2013. She wasn't someone who said, do not change a comma without my permission. When you edit books, there's quite a lot you can help and author with. I personally love the cutting element of line work, but there's no way you can ever, ever fix dialogue. It
