How Did Tolkien's Mother Influence His Writing?
Tolkien loss his father when he was young, and that seems to have likely translated into strong, comforting male characters in his books. Tolkien was an orphan after the age of 12, his mother passed away when he was 12 years old; so many of his heroes are orphans themselves. So there is the seeking after of another guide, and certainly his mother was probably one of the primary influences on his life.
