What Is Mills's Theory of History?
Mills is not necessarily a marxis. He is influenced by marxism, but he is also a materialist. And so he had to grapple with different views of history and situate himself somewhere along those lines. His understanding of history sees it as this constant clash between the working class and the ruling class. These contradictions lead to a kind of momentum that pushes history forward. But because there're so many people involved, and so many hands that are influencing history, you can't really say that anybody is responsible forit, for anything.
