The Last Supper of Christ's Sacrifice on the Cross
The Mass is ultimately a sacrifice, a representation of christ's sacrifice on the cross. He sacrifices his body and gives that to one of the ways that stands out in the mass is at the preparation of the altar. The people unite all these sacrifices into the one sacrifice that's now at the priest's hands. So it's like this kind of beautiful action of the people of god saying, ok, we've given our sacrifices. We're united n it to what's immediately at your hands.
