The Threats Emerging to Free Speech
In a contemporary context, there seem to be particular threats emerging to free speech that are potentially distinctive or maybe continuous. Do you see what's going on now with free speech as a new development or as a return to a dynamic that existed in the past? Well, I think it's always been a struggle to obtain true open free speech. As a socialist and a Marxist, I don't think we live in a society which has yet to truly achieve the realm of freedom for speech and expression... The amount of control that can be exerted by monopoly powers, including monopoly power of the state, has also increased.
