The Order of the Tentations in the Exodus
The order of the temptations in matthew differs from that in luke. This is a preparation for a greater conflict of spiritual powers. The devil uses the words of god to try and trip christ up. He knows who jesus is, and his challenge is to jesus identity. If he wants to enjoy all these privileges of er and rule, all he needs to do is reach out and take what is perfectly within his grasp. And at that point heis tested.
