as a guy when i leave bars that i just live in a different world like i it is yeah maybe one out of a hundred times i leave a bar i go is that street safe for me to walk down by myself 99 out of a hundred times i'm whistling swinging around lampposts i don't i'm fine like if i blunder into a place because i'm wearing a suit everybody just assumes that i like got lost my way to a meeting whereas like most of the ladies i know all of the time yeah when they leave a bar like okay how do i not get raped and like that is something that they're actively thinking about of this guy just drove past me and he slowed down and he's eyeballing me and trying to get me into the car like literally is happening right um yeah so i i got let in this the way you're phrasing is i have less things to worry about right

and in that sense and that's just one tiny example and to be fair i have experienced the the benefit of that as well when i was living in china it was a million thousand degrees when i first got there a thousand kabillion degrees. So humid. I was dying. And I was like, I need to like sit. And it was like August in Shanghai, which is wild. And I was like, I need to just like sit and like find some internet and then like connect it. And I just wandered into some fancy hotel in downtown Shanghai. And I realized that because I look like a tourist because I'm white and was like relatively Western dressed that I could just sit there and no one would bother me. And so even now in New York City, I can walk around like, oh, you need to find a restroom or like get out of the streets for a second. I can just go into a fancy hotel and sit there in a way that a black person could not or someone who looked different for me for whatever reason could not. Somebody

was really shabby dressed. They might be asked why they're there. Yeah.
Speaker 1
Yeah. But no one I have wandered through all kinds of hotels and sat in various lobbies just to, you know, you've got 20 minutes to kill. I'm just going to sit somewhere nice as opposed to sit on the subway or a bus stop or whatever, because of how I look. Great.
